The society currently operates a Mop Assembling and a Furniture Caning Unit that trains and employs totally blind persons.
Those blind persons who are skilled in handicraft are encouraged to involve themselves in this activity at their homes, and are assisted by facilitators of the National Handcraft Programme.
Classes are organized on a one-one-on basis in braille reading/writing.
Rehabilitation services are offered at the community/home level. Blind and visually impaired persons are taught personal, household and mobility skills. Livelihood or Real need skills are also encouraged and clients are guided into self-employment opportunities. This service has had to be curtailed as the Society has been unable to employ a Rehabilitation Officer on a full-time basis.
The Society has embraced and supports integrated education for blind and severely visually impaired persons at all levels of the mainstream education system. The program is served by an Itinerant teacher supported by the government. This position is currently vacant.
A monthly Food Basket is made available to some thirty (30) elderly blind persons and their families.
The headquarters of the Society, which also houses the Mop and Furniture Caning Unit, serves as a center of recreation and socializing for blind persons.
